Could we get a sharper .pdf of the map we use for Caravan?
I am using it on my interactive whiteboard and it is really not very clear? I could retrace it on a big sheet of paper with an ....hush my mouth....opaque projector? But this year I made four quadrants of the map (so they could see it in more detail and larger) and they moved an icon representing their group around the Smartboard --- it was cool!
But... I would love a sharper image :)
thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Eve,
I will take a look at this and discuss it with our art department.

Hi, Ms. Van Kley--
Thank you for your question. Do you have the electronic version of the map or the print version?

I have the electronic version.

Thank you. While we can't offer a different PDF, there's a number of options to achieve a sharper image.
You might want to try zooming in on a particular area of the map to view it more clearly. After selecting the area you'd like to zoom in on, hold down the Control and + keys if you're on a PC or Command and + if you're on a Mac.
We also offer a print version of the map. If you'd like a larger print version, you can bring the PDF file to a service bureau such as Kinko's.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thank you Julianne - it is such a neat unit -- but with 5 sections of Geography --- I need a big map! I actually made a Smartboard slide and tokens to move around the board --- but it was just too hard to see.
Thank you, again - I will try the zooming and printing.

Julianne/Eve, What if you printed off the map and then scanned it in again as a bitmap or jpeg and then used it. You could darken the lines before rescanning it and then project it to your smartboard. Another suggestion is to look on bing or google for the map you want and use it instead as a supplement. I have done this with many maps and kids like it. Another idea is to use google earth to actually go there and see the landscape. Kids certainly love it when they can zoom down a street in Florence let's say and see what it's like now. This leads to great discussions about connections between past and present and increases observation skills. Good luck! Sue
